Enjoy lunch in the atrium of the Faculty of Architecture and join an open discussion with lecturers from the new master’s programme Planning and Development, focusing on the challenge of transforming cities toward a zero-carbon future.
Urban areas play a crucial role in the mitigation of climate change as they emit about 75% of global greenhouse gases. The International Panel for Climate Change in its Fifth Assessment Report stated that four characteristics of urban form affect the GHG emission: density, land use mix, connectivity and accessibility. What tools do planners, architects, developers, and public authorities need to accelerate the green transition?
The discussion will explore strategies, barriers, and opportunities for achieving low-carbon urban development, with a focus on practical solutions and systemic change that can help cities move more quickly from targets to action.
The debate is part of a series of events designed to introduce the key themes of the new master’s programme Plánování a development, which will launch in September 2026. The “lunch talks” format allows students to combine an informal lunch in the atrium with an inspiring discussion and then continue on to their design studios.
