A profound understanding of architectural history plays a central role in my teaching and practice: I encourage students to view buildings not as static objects, but as dynamic systems that evolve over time. Using precedents and physical models, I help them think outside their own vocabulary and make unexpected connections between past and present. My teaching of gestalt theory helps students to understand the complexity of architectural design, both in the present and in the past.
