Third edition of the landscape-architecture competition Laurus is launching

On 26 November 2025 the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University published an announcement that students of bachelor’s and master’s programmes may submit their works to the third edition of the landscape-architecture competition Laurus until 6 February 2026. The competition is open to all schools where student works on landscape architecture are prepared. Semester, year-long and bachelor-level projects can be nominated.

The competition aims to support creativity, professional growth and mutual inspiration among students and teachers across universities. It offers a platform for sharing students’ projects, connecting academic environment with practice, and contributing to the public visibility of the field of landscape architecture.

The competition is initiated by the Ústav krajinářské architektury (Institute of Landscape Architecture) of the Faculty of Architecture, CTU — and also involves Česká zemědělská univerzita v Praze, Mendelova univerzita v Brně and Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre. The event is under the patronage of the Česká komora architektů and the Česká asociace pro krajinářskou architekturu.

The competition is divided into four categories — covering a wide range of scales and approaches. These categories span from projects of small public or private spaces, through medium-size parks or public spaces, to large-scale landscape concepts — and finally “landscape gestures”, i.e., conceptual or artistic proposals that open a new perspective on landscape, its meaning, or transformation over time.

In each category one prize will be awarded, consisting of 10,000 CZK, and organizations sponsoring the competition may also grant their own special awards.

All detailed information is available on the competition’s website.
