Faculty of Architecture and the Prague Castle Administration Launch Cooperation Linking Education, Research, and Care for a Unique Heritage Site
27/1/2026
The cooperation focuses on the direct involvement of students of the CTU Faculty of Architecture in topics of restoration, development, and the daily management of historical sites. The first joint project to put the memorandum into practice is studio teaching in the summer semester within the Department of Landscape Architecture, led by Zuzana Štemberová. The studio teaching will take place in cooperation with the Department of Parks and Gardens of the Prague Castle Administration, led by Helena Pánková, and will focus on assignments directly related to Prague Castle – Projects in the Upper Lumbe Garden and the northern forecourt of Prague Castle.
"After a certain period, Prague Castle is once again trying to systematically develop architectural and urban themes. It is not just about the routine management of the area, but about a conceptual approach that includes architecture, landscape, and monument care. In recent years, activities such as architectural competitions, the commissioning of studies, and open professional discussion have been restarting," says the director of the Prague Castle Administration, Pavel Vyhnánek.
The memorandum builds on existing cooperation between the CTU Faculty of Architecture and Prague Castle. "We highly value the cooperation with such a significant partner as the Prague Castle Administration and its current approach to the care of these unique areas. The cooperation allows students of the CTU Faculty of Architecture to encounter real tasks in an extraordinarily sensitive and complex context. At the same time, it creates space for long-term research topics to which the faculty can contribute its professional capacities," states the Dean of the CTU Faculty of Architecture, Dalibor Hlaváček.
Experts who graduated from the CTU FA are already working for the Prague Castle Administration. Kateřina Špičáková is the coordinator of Prague Castle development, and Barbora Féret, who also teaches at the faculty, is dedicated to the preparation and implementation of buildings.
