Not only Fidorky for Bezruč. FA students build Opava's chill-out zones

Work has started on two design-build projects in Opava. The interventions by students of the Seho-Poláček and Mádr-Tomš studios are part of the celebration of 800 years since the founding of the city. Three "Fidorky" in Bezručov Square and a multifunctional element "multi sit" in Dvořák Gardens will be the first flags of change in the public space of one of the oldest cities in Bohemia.

Three Fidorkas for Bezruč

The proposal focuses on the critical spaces of Bezruč Square - the fountain, the crossroads, and the area in front of the university. The crossroads will feature a light installation - an object light with informal seating elements. The center of the crossroads will be paved with brick paving, and a circular structure with a diameter of 15 meters will serve as a new landmark. The fidor bench at the water feature is undulating in shape to allow for both sitting and lying. The third proposal is the Fidorka pearl - a wooden terrace at the bottom of the square inspired by the Opava anniversary logo, which is not yet planned to be realized. The authors of the concept are Magdaléna Pourová, Matyáš Richter and Sonja Sadílková, who worked on it in the Seho-Poláček studio.

Multi sit

The multi-seat was initially designed for Synagogue Park, where it was to follow the terrain slope and offer different height levels for resting. However, it is being implemented in Dvořák Gardens by the arcades, which will serve as seating for local refreshments. The element comprises larch planks that are threaded onto threaded poles. The authors of the design are Tereza Hulíková and Iryna Vazmitsel from the Mádr-Tomš studio.
