Martin Petřík is an architect working at the intersection of architectural practice, research and education.
His work encompasses projects on various scales – from family homes and public buildings to urban and landscape designs.
The common thread running through his work is a sensitive reading of context, an emphasis on structural logic and the search for long-term sustainable solutions. He has received numerous awards and honours in architectural competitions for his work.
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he subsequently undertook doctoral research on the topic ‘České náměstí – Staging and Everyday Life’. Studying under leading personalities in Czech architecture shaped his interest in the relationship between architecture, history, society and everyday life.
Alongside his own practice, he has long been involved in projects that extend into the public sphere and civil society. Among other things, he was behind the launching one of the first bike-sharing schemes in Prague.
