Annotation

This bachelor thesis focuses on the design of a monastery in Vilémov near Jihlava, located close to the historical chateau area. The project combines traditional principles of sacred architecture with a modern architectural expression and contemporary technological requirements for sustainable construction. The building is conceived as a single-storey monastery organized around a cloister garden, which serves as the central contemplative and meditative space of the proposal. The spatial layout is based on two main compositional axes and includes a church, monastic cells, a library, communal spaces, technical facilities, and service areas necessary for the monasterys operation. The structural system consists of monolithic reinforced concrete walls and a roof with an extensive green layer. The design emphasizes energy efficiency and environmentally responsible operation through the use of a ground-source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, and a constructed wetland wastewater treatment system with subsequent reuse of rainwater and recycled water. The architectural concept responds sensitively to the historical context of the site while creating a contemporary environment for spiritual life, meditation, and monastic living.
