Design as a Service: Automated Custom Product Design

This diploma thesis explores the possibilities of parametric design in authorial furniture and its connection to digital fabrication and user personalization. Based on research into parametric design, ready-to-assemble furniture, UX/UI configurators, and manufacturing technologies, the thesis formulates principles for designing a product prepared for controlled customization. The practical outcome is the H3 shelving system, whose dimensions, composition, and manufacturing data can be generated using custom C++ code. The thesis verifies the design system through the physical production of a prototype and outlines its further development towards a web-based configurator and the forma100 platform.
