Comprehensive information system for the Vltava River

The master's thesis "Sediments of the Vltava" presents a conceptual design for an information system within the Troja Basin in Prague. The aim of this project is to shift attention away from a purely utilitarian perception of the river and highlight its hidden, vulnerable value by fostering a deeper relationship and subsequent protection. The design introduces a series of seven totems to the Císařský ostrov area in the Troja Basin. Crafted from locally collected Vltava sediments, these totems represent the memory of the riverbed and form a sensory path along the river, encouraging passersby to interact with and reflect upon the surrounding landscape. Each totem embodies a specific phenomenon of the Vltava, using a single sentence to prompt individuals to activate their sensory perception. In this way, the project responds to the contemporary "cult of the eye" and teaches us to perceive the Vltava with the entire bodyto slow down and once again listen to the story of (not only) the river.
