The city of Chrudim and the surrounding landscape planning restoration policy.

The diploma thesis addresses the landscape interface between the town of Chrudim, with approximately 23,000 inhabitants, and the intensively cultivated agricultural landscape surrounding it. It is an area of pronounced contrast between continuously expanding urban development, transport infrastructure, and an exhausted agricultural landscape threatened by soil erosion and water scarcity. The proposal responds to the current condition through three pillars: the stabilization and protection of the values of the agricultural landscape, the accessibility and inhabitation of the landscape for the residents of Chrudim and surrounding settlements, and the influence of the landscape on current and future development. The pillar of stabilization addresses the landscape at a broader scale. It defines areas for landscape and agrotechnical measures and further revitalizes river corridors and springs. The second pillar, accessibility, focuses on connecting the peri-urban ecotone to the network of pedestrian and cycling routes and uses it as a new inhabited public space. Finally, the third pillar, the influence of the landscape on development, responds to future changes within the area and integrates newly proposed zones in a way that does not restrict development, but rather guides it. The result is a concept that reconnects Chrudim with its landscape and improves both the condition of the landscape and the quality of life of residents.
