TIP club Znojmo - building Conversion
Architecture and Urbanism
Annotation
The entire Tip Club and the surrounding area currently constitute an unused, dead zone and thus act as a barrier. The planned conversion into the Znojmo State District Archives is unlikely to change this situation. My position is therefore clear: to revitalise the site both from the inside and the outside.
The starting point is to find a function or combination of functions that will attract residents while effectively utilising the entire, already large area. I have chosen a combination of relocating the city librarywhich has long needed larger spaces in a more modern concept of a third place (a space between work/school and home) for gathering, rather than a traditional libraryalong with a café with coworking space and halfway housing for children from a childrens home or released prisoners.
My approach involves preserving the main load-bearing structures and stripping the building of everything else. And inserting a new communal core into the main hall, which will serve as a sculptural work in open space and a link between the original historical footprint and the new structure and function.
