Pankrac - skyscrapers and innovative building materials

Thesis deals with the design of a high-rise building in Prague's Pankrác district with the aim of contributing to the unification of the fragmented skyline of this part of the city. The project is based on an urban analysis of the Pankrác skyline and verifies the most suitable location for the building . The building's structural system is from timber CLT panels, and the thesis compares the carbon footprint of this variant with a conventional reinforced concrete structure. The design also focuses on the revitalization of the Pankrác Pentagon, which is currently characterized by monofunctional office buildings and poor-quality public space. A significant residential function in the form of approximately 200 apartments is integrated into the area, bringing permanent residents and supporting everyday urban life. The project thus responds to the future development of the area and sees Pankrác as a potential new lively and representative urban district of Prague.
