FC Viktoria Žižkov football stadium

The diploma thesis presents the design of a new urban stadium for FC Viktoria Žižkov, a club with a strong historical tradition whose current stadium no longer meets contemporary technical and operational requirements. The aim of the thesis is to examine whether the stadium can remain in its historic location on Seifertova Street while functioning as a fully integrated part of the contemporary city. With regard to the scale of the programme, several potential locations within the wider area of Prague 3 were initially identified. Based on subsequent analyses, the current location on Seifertova Street was selected as the most suitable option, as it best reflects both the identity of the club and the urban structure of Žižkov. The introductory part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of the site, the relationship between the stadium and the city, and above all the functioning of the stadium beyond match days, including the activation of the ground floor and the creation of a vibrant urban environment used daily by local residents. The main part of the thesis further develops the architectural design of a new UEFA Category 4 football stadium conceived as part of an urban block combining sport, housing, public amenities and public space. The combination of these functions ensures year-round use of the site and supports active urban life beyond sporting events.
