Elementary School Letňany

The subject of the bachelor's thesis is elaboration of a study of a primary school in Letňany. The intention was to create a playful environment in which children would like to spend time and which would support their creativity and social skills. The central element of the design is an open internal atrium that runs the entire height of the building and provides access to all rooms in the school. On the ground floor, the atrium spills out into an open space imaginary divided into a cloakroom, a dining room and a main meeting zone with a residential staircase and a place for children to socialize. On the upper floors, the atrium space contains open walkways replacing cramped corridors, which provide access to classrooms and teachers' offices. The atrium thus connects all floors of the school, improves clarity and facilitates orientation, and at the same time also contributes to people meeting.
