Annotation

The new kindergarten building is situated near the historic centre of the town of Domažlice. The design sensitively completes the gap in the compact urban structure and thus restores the disrupted continuous street frontage in this location. The building is designed in the form of a chamfered rectangle. The floor plan is chamfered in order to connect to the existing building, to which the newly proposed structure is closely attached. The building is designed to provide preschool care and education for 60 children aged 36 years. The operation is divided into three mixed-age classrooms and supplemented with the necessary operational, technical, and administrative facilities. The massing of the building is conceptually divided into two parts by raising the roof plane of one section of the structure, thereby optically reducing the scale of the building. The building is covered by a gable roof. The division into two parts is further emphasized by different colours and textures of the façade as well as by the colour design of the windows. The façade is designed in earthy tones and the final plaster finish has a finely textured, granular character. The roof termination is designed with a cornice in the shape of a circular segment.
