Annotation

The design of the Cultural Center in Sušice represents a dialogue between contemporary architecture and the historical context of the town core. The building responds to the surrounding built environment primarily through its massing and chosen color palette, naturally complementing the square on the site of the former meat market. The goal was to create a multifunctional center providing facilities for a wide range of cultural and social activities. The building is defined by three distinct volumes: the foyer, the main hall, and the stage. The functions within these individual volumes are expressed on the exterior through varying roof heights and specific daylighting requirementswhile some areas utilize overhead lighting via skylights, others remain completely enclosed to accommodate theatrical equipment.
