National library

Lenka Levíčková, Studio Kuzemenský–Kunarová

2nd place in Diploma projects 2019 competition

According to the jury, the author responded to the frenzied debates about the form and ideal location of the National Library by "an original solution to a fictitious recycling of an existing urban unit," when she proposed rebuilding the existing Hilton Hotel. The judges appreciated that “the author perceives that contemporary Prague needs to recode and boldly changes the function of one building with the aim of“ mobilizing and cleaning ”its surroundings. The project is thus a good contribution to discussions on the future of Prague's waterfronts, as well as on the meaningfulness and location of new public buildings."
