Double landscape for Water Architecture - River Calopinace_rural part
Annotation
This project focuses on the rural and peri-urban section of the Calopinace River in the Reggio di Calabria, Italy. The river here transitions from a natural landscape into the urban fabric. The area is characterized by fragmented land use, seasonal water scarcity, and exposure to flooding during intense rainfall events.
The aim of the project is to rethink the river corridor as a multi-functional landscape system, capable of retaining water during flood events, supporting ecological processes, and improving the relationship between the river and surrounding settlements. Through landscape-based interventions, the proposal seeks to balance flood mitigation, water management, and public use, while respecting the river’s natural dynamics and geological constraints.
