Vimperk is establishing itself as a city of sport, primarily through official, competitive disciplines concentrated in the sports centre. However, there is a parallel world of urban and casual sports – skateboarding, streetball, BMX and climbing – which does not have its own space in the city.
The Deus ex machina project is a response to this imbalance. At Volyňka and the new pump track, it creates an alternative public space for subcultural and community forms of movement. The open steel structure extends the pump track with a skate park, streetball, climbing, and saunas. The project works with reuse—a cistern and containers—and creates an open landscape of movement where sport, city, and community meet.
