Living by the Acacias

The panel housing estate in Prague’s Modřany district is functionally well equipped, yet its public spaces remain monotonous and inactive. The project responds by revitalizing an undeveloped site with neglected greenery and a playground. A preserved dense acacia grove becomes the central calm element of the area, around which new buildings are sensitively arranged. The urban concept builds on the existing pedestrian promenade—the most vibrant part of the site—respects established street profiles, and maintains a car-free, residential character. The project combines sheltered housing for mothers with children undergoing divorce with standard housing, supporting social integration and providing financial backing for the shelter.
