Annotation
The centre of Prague is an architectural amalgamation of different styles and historical periods. However, it lacks larger spaces dedicated to the exhibition of contemporary art. A suitable location for such an institution can be found along the former city walls promenade, specifically at Náměstí Republiky.
Through the renovation of the former Franciscan monastery and the construction of a new gallery building adjacent to it, spaces for the exhibition of contemporary art are created in the new gallery, while historical art is presented in the renovated monastery. This intervention contributes to a clearer spatial definition of the former city walls promenade and transforms it into a cultural boulevard offering a wide range of cultural experiences.
