APARTMENT BUILDING - NOVÉ LETŇANY

The subject of this study is the proposal for two residential buildings in the Nové Letňany development area. The urban composition is based on two mirrored U-shaped volumes that define a new public space between them, central square. Key design principle is the terraced receding of floors towards the centre, which ensures sunlight penetration to the ground level and prevents a sense of confinement. While the highly permeable ground floor with commercial units activates social life, the upper floors offer quiet and generous living standards. Residents' privacy on the receding terraces is addressed through large-scale planters feat vegetation, which cr a natural visual barrier. The project thus establishes a harmonic dialogue between the vibrant urban street level and cosy living spaces.
