HALFWAY HOUSE

Jakub Vician

Annotation

A halfway house is a social service for young people aged 18–26 who, after leaving institutional care or a problematic family environment, lack stable background support. Its aim is to support independence, responsibility, and the ability to live an ordinary, self-sufficient life. The halfway house in Řepy is part of the Prague–Řepy crisis housing complex, located near the terminal tram stop. The design consists of two parallel residential buildings separated by a cycle path, forming a semi-public space that connects the surrounding housing estate with the wider area. This space encourages contact with the local community and supports the social integration of clients, who also participate in the operation of on-site services, helping to reduce social exclusion.
