Republic Square

Republic square is more of an intersection than a square, and the very name "Republic" seems unjustified. Tram traffic divides the square into two separate parts, neither of which has clearly defined boundaries, making the transition to the surrounding areas unclear. I address this issue by adding two new structures which, together with the newly utilized monastery, form a triad of spaces square-piazzetta-garden. The main kunsthalle forms a solid support for the square at its southern end and together with the new boulevard clearly defines it. On its north side, the square is enclosed by a memorial dedicated to the victims of World War I. The second kunsthalle regulates V Celnici Street and clarifies its relationship to the square.
