Annotation

Un Planned Rohan reimagines the development of Rohanský Ostrov not as a rigid masterplan, but as an organic evolution of the city. Situated along the Vltava River, the site acts as a crucial interface between the historic Karlín district and the natural riverfront. Based on a deep analysis of existing settlement patterns and data, our strategy directly addresses the urgent failures of modern urbanism: auto-centricity, gentrification, and lack of adaptability. Our research draws on two primary precedents: the contextually similar Malá Strana, and global unplanned settlements that exemplify the self-organizing logic we aim to replicate. By shifting the hierarchy away from the automobile, we have designed a safe, human-scale environment.
