MOST IS NOT DEAD

Bc. Johana Odvody

Annotation

The demolition of Starý Most began in 1967, and for the next 20 years this violent intervention continued, and every year more buildings died; cinema, churches, residential buildings. The ruins of old buildings were mixed in the rubbish dump with demolished new buildings, and nothing but emptiness remained in the area. The Old Bridge has survived only as a mere thought, but better times are dawning; Times of greenery, culture, living and dead. Arid plains, roads and roundabouts will be replaced by reclaimed greenery. Pioneer species will be planted first, which will allow the gradual integration of natural greenery. A new place to escape from the overheated city will be created, a new place to walk by the water or among the traces of the old city. The Old Most will no longer be dead.
