Focal point

A proposal for Plzeň’s cultural heart: two slender volumes complementing the urban street grid, working with vistas from Republic Square and the J. K. Tyl Theatre with its New Stage. The buildings' vertical corners echo the historic towers of the Old Town. Located on the dynamic site of the former town walls and its green ring, the concept contrasts work and leisure on a single plot that lives day and night. A column structure allows for perfectly lit interiors. The white building focuses on creativity and culture, offering a basement hall for art cinema or debates, alongside model-making and art workshops. The dark building serves as a base for work, study, and short-term accommodation for guest actors or professors. Ground-floor shops and a bar foster lively public spaces.
