BASEMENT

The design addresses the adaptation of the basement level and the adjacent courtyard of a renovated interwar apartment building in Prague. The existing unused basement is transformed into a 3-room apartment with a kitchenette, with emphasis on connecting the interior with the exterior and improving daylight conditions. The proposal includes layout and structural modifications, new structural openings, and window adjustments. The original basement opening facing the courtyard is replaced by a French window, which opens the main living space towards the courtyard and significantly increases natural lighting. The interior features custom built-in carpentry and materials that unify the entire apartment.
