Exhibition of Studio Projects
Memory of nation
Annotation
The project resolves the edge of Letná by transforming the former Stalin monument site. The goal is not to erase the heavy genius loci, but to integrate it into a new concept. Submerged to preserve the open plain, the new mass is a shared headquarters for three memory institutions: the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes (ÚSTR), the Security Services Archive, and Post Bellum. The operation benefits from their synergy—from dark underground depositories, through a public entrance floor with a research room and education, to a sunlit top-floor administration. The layout's heart is an atrium lined with a colonnade. A new inclined elevator from Čech Bridge radically improves city access.
