House of Art

The bachelor's thesis deals with the architectural and urban design of a new city gallery in the Republic Square area in Prague. The main urban concept is to direct spatial flows in the form of preventing direct penetration of streets leading into the square. The building becomes the new front of the square, thus clearly defining its boundaries, spatially enclosing it and protecting it from the negative impacts of urban infrastructure. By placing the gallery in this position, the cultural function of the public space is significantly strengthened, which complements the missing layer in the affected area. The layout solution combines exhibition spaces, a social hall and a publicly accessible café on the ground floor.
