How does a town square work.

Bc. Adéla Klihavcová

Annotation

This project explores the functioning of Masaryk Square in Police nad Metují and the possibilities for its transformation as a public space. Rather than proposing a single definitive design, it takes the form of a booklet of design alternatives that examines different configurations of the square in everyday use as well as during public events. Through testing various approaches, the project investigates the relationship between the site’s historical value, traffic infrastructure, and the needs of the contemporary city. The outcome is a collection of scenarios illustrating different ways the square can function and its role in urban life.
