Exhibition of Studio Projects

Annotation

Building D functions inside, but no longer outside. We preserve the layout while addressing two key issues: the Boletice panel envelope and the building's isolation from the campus. We replace the original cladding with a facade of prefabricated rammed earth elements. We open the northeastern corner toward the campus, punctures in the facade connect the interior with the street, and the roof becomes a liveable terrace. The steel frames of the original panels return to the facade as reuse elements. Conceptually, we use excavated soil from nearby future construction sites, responding to its high share in Czech construction waste. A rammed earth building of this scale does not yet exist in the Czech Republic. Building D naturally lends itself to this research project.
