Lime kilns

Annotation

The Poldi steelworks are a piece of living nostalgia, a symbol of the Kladno region's identity, and a legend in the world of urbex. As one of the largest industrial complexes in the Czech Republic, it concentrates adrenaline, raw risk, and the desire to capture history before it vanishes for good. The architectural design of the lime kilns and granaries responds to this environment with minimal structural interventions and flexible internal spaces. The external structure—a metaphorical spiderweb—serves a dual role: it stabilizes the decaying industrial monument and forms a new vertical pathway for visitors, opening up an adrenaline-fueled journey upward, chasing the raw beauty of oblivion.
