Hexagonite

Annotation

When designing Hexagonite, I tried to use as much wood-based materials as possible. These materials can also be used beyond the lifetime of the building to promote sustainability and ecology. Supporting a circular economy system rather than a linear one is the big issue and the future at the moment. The structure falls with its 11 floors into the category of woodwork-based high-rise buildings. My effort was to use the supporting structure as both an aesthetic element in the interior. The supporting structure system originated from a network of triangles, when I finally got to a combination of 3 hexagons. A reinforced concrete core is located in the center of the building for greater structural rigidity, and this also serves as vertical communication. Another element of the proposal is the variability of dispositions and the use of different functional fillings.

my key experience from erasmus

Aalto University in Helsinki suprised me very nicely in the way how they communicate with students. Each employee was very pleasant, nothing was a problem and I could ask anybody on anything without fear. The biggest experience was a tour through workshop spaces, where students could find anything, what they need for a realization of their projects. I would recommend to everyone on architecture university to visit this school and feel this great sense of Finnish air and attitude.
