MAYRAU

The project focuses on the reconstruction and adaptive reuse of the former Mayrau compressor station near Kladno. The aim is to preserve the authenticity of this industrial heritage site while revitalizing it with new functions: a contemporary art gallery focused on sculpture, a residency sculpture studio, and a café open to the gallery visitors. A new steel structure introduces functional spaces and a staircase tower that symbolizes movement and continuity with the site's industrial past. The architectural concept contrasts the historic building with contemporary additions, using raw, restrained materials that respect the original aesthetic while clearly distinguishing the new layers.
