RUNNING BLACK BOX

Marketa Kučerová

Annotation

The project focuses on the compressor building of the Mayrau Mining Museum in Vinařice, where I designed a new gallery dedicated to the sculptural work of American artist Tony Smith. The concept is based on a movable "black box" that enables a flexible division between the gallery and the café while preserving the openness and spatial continuity of the hall. This element functions as a seating area for visitors, serves as a projection surface, and provides access to the upper gallery walkway, offering new perspectives on the artworks. The design responds sensitively to the industrial character of the building and reflects the aesthetic of the sculptures through its chosen material palette.
