BUG HOTEL

Annotation
The decline in biodiversity, climate change and the associated decline in insects in nature encourage me to design an insect hotel. I conceive the design as an object, a sculpture in space with an added utility function, my goal is to try working with wood, wood carving and wood staining with natural materials. The hotel is designed from spruce boards, connected with glue or wooden pegs. The individual floors are filled with dry leaves, bark and blocks with cavities for solitary bees to nest in. I planted moss and Stonecrop on the roof. The inspiration for the wood carving was the structure of the bodies and wings of insects. The entire object stands on a wooden prism and is fixed to the ground with a steel stake.
