KUNSTHALLE HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ

The Kunsthalle is being built in an inner courtyard, not far from the Hradec Králové train station, which is connects in the design by a passage to the 28th October Square and further eastwards to the city centre. The new building is being created by adding gallery space to a pair of existing buildings, which will serve, after modernisation, as administrative facilities and workshop space for the Kunsthalle. Its mass, which is created by pulling nine towers out of a square grid to different heights, cuts into the existing buildings, creating a contrast of new and old architecture, emphasised by the different materials on the façade.
