MUSEUM OF THE FAMOUS (THE FAMOUS MUSEUM!)

In the immediate vicinity of the Cihelná Gate at Prague's Vyšehrad, a museum is being established with the aim of commemorating and preserving the cultural legacy of prominent Czech figures who are buried in the local national cemetery – Slavín. The architectural design sensitively responds to the historical and urban context of the location. The building is set into the hillside and its elegant arched facade connects with traditional architectural motifs of Czech construction, thereby creating a bridge between the past and the present. The museum is conceived as a multi-level space that offers both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The central theme is the presentation of the lives and works of significant creators of Czech culture – composers, writers, artists, actors and architects.
