JOB CENTER

Jachym Šenkýř

Annotation

Cramped waiting rooms, narrow halls, stressful environment, unemployment. That’s what the job centre used to be – unpleasant for visitors and staff alike. I aimed to change that. The centre now supports various public services: retraining courses (from carpentry to graphic design), business advice, psychological and social counselling, and school programmes. I highlighted the educational part. Tight corridors were replaced by a high atrium, and waiting rooms now have space they need. The building is now open, airy, and clear. Multiple flexible classrooms allow a wide range of activities and encourage connection between groups of people. The roof is accessible to the public. The job centre is no longer isolated – it’s a hub for personal growth.
