On the bank of the Jizera

The proposed area in Turnov aims to reconnect the Jizera River with the city. The design seeks to restore the river’s historical role as a natural axis of life and integrate it into the urban fabric. The project envisions an attractive urban district with housing, public spaces, and an active relationship with the river. The Jizera transforms from a barrier into a vibrant center of urban life, with the riverbanks animated by a riverside promenade, steps, and a cycling path. The former bus terminal makes way for a residential zone, while the industrial buildings are preserved as part of the site’s identity. New development is situated atop a flood protection embankment. The proposal also includes a park offering space for recreation, relaxation, and leisure activities.
