The Thread - Nusle Project

Romain Bancel

Annotation

"The Thread" is a cultural and artistic center located beneath the Nusle Bridge in Prague, reactivating a forgotten urban void through narrative architecture. The design follows a spatial and artistic progression in eight exhibition volumes, moving from figurative art to abstract and immersive experiences. It is complemented by artisan shops, storage areas, and free, intuitive circulation without a central entrance. A series of corten steel panels introduces a vertical rhythm that echoes the bridge’s structure while allowing sunlight to reach the heart of the site. The architecture is modular and expressive, combining raw concrete and corten steel to enhance light and showcase the artworks.
