PALACKÉHO REIMAGINED

Annotation
Palackého Square functions primarily as a transport hub, lacking space for people to stay and gather, while Pod Slovany Street – marked by a significant urban gap – is currently used as a parking area for dozens of cars.
The urban design proposal aims to restore value and meaningful use to this prominent part of Prague’s New Town. In the area of Zítkovy sady and the square beneath the Emauzy Monastery, new buildings with active ground floors – hosting shops and services – are proposed. Between them, a row of trees will be planted to enrich the urban greenery. The vacant lot along Pod Slovany Street will be filled with an L-shaped building, helping to re-establish a coherent street-front urban structure.
