A new fire station is rising on the border of the city and its industrial memory – a building that does not engage in a fight with its surroundings, but rather a conversation. Two masses, like silent witnesses of the past, look at the silhouette of the Žižkov freight station. They respect its scale, standing side by side. Between them, the horizontal – a peaceful garage – connects and anchors. The station is a place of readiness, rhythm and peace. The architecture is simple, solid, dignified. It does not boast, but carries respect for work and service. The design is based on the place, but brings a new order – functional and at the same time holistic. “In the place where the movement of goods once pulsated, today stands the pulse of readiness – silent but unwavering.”
