Nusle Market

Rudolfs Kuskis

Annotation

Situated beneath Prague’s monumental Nusle Bridge, the design embraces a low, linear form that harmonizes with its powerful context rather than competing with it. Its sunken courtyard and green roof create calm, accessible public spaces for gathering, markets, and recreation. The most active zone, featuring food stalls and a beer garden, sits below street level, while framed openings offer layered visual connections to the bridge, reinforcing this strong contextual relationship. Drawing inspiration from the bridge’s concrete structure, the project adopts an industrial approach to materiality, creating a cohesive dialogue between building and context.
