Exhibition of Studio Projects

Annotation

The project title The Perfect Roll refers not only to the shape of the proposed structure, but also to Wim Wenders’ film Perfect Days, which explores public toilets in Tokyo. While in the Shibuya district public restrooms are visited not only for their function but also for their design, such infrastructure is still lacking in Prague. Opposite the children’s playground in Parukářka, there is currently a mobile toilet but the standard plastic cabin feels entirely out of place in the Žižkov park. The design of the barrier-free, autonomous toilet The Perfect Roll uses softer forms and materials: the elliptical structure is clad in translucent polycarbonate and lined with larch wood. Slats of varying lengths add a sense of movement and subtly evoke the familiar curve of a toilet paper roll.
