Research center under Prager´s Cubes

In the sloping terrain below the former headquarters of the Association of Design Studios, now home to the Prague Institute of Planning and Development, a new design for the Research Centre for Structural Materials is being proposed, a building that combines a technical function with sensitivity to the surrounding space. The building is made up of a pair of masses - two distinct but balanced volumes, connected by a subtle glass bridge. Each mass has a separate function: one serves as an office building, the other as a test hall with laboratories for testing concrete, steel and other building materials.
