River baths

The design of the river baths in Sušice is located on Santos Island on the Otava River, a site with a long tradition of river bathing and everyday recreation by the water. The baths are conceived as an open public space for residents and visitors, complementing existing uses without creating a new landmark. The architecture draws on the archetype of wooden river baths from the First Czechoslovak Republic, interpreted in a contemporary and restrained way. The proposal features a long, narrow wooden building with a gabled roof, naturally integrated into the river landscape. The program supports year-round use and includes a riverside pub, bath facilities, sanitary amenities, and a sauna. The aim is to create a calm, welcoming place for everyday use.
