FERONA

The reconstruction and extension of the former Ferona iron warehouse in Prague's Holešovice district is transforming the industrial complex into an open secondary school with a new gym. The design works with the idea of shared and generous common spaces that encourage natural encounters and variable forms of teaching. Flexible classrooms and an internal box system of elevations allow the space to be adapted to current needs. The neutral interior is accentuated by colorful vertical communications and vistas that visually and functionally connect the building. The gym is designed as a landscape element that flows smoothly into the adjacent square, blurring the boundary between the building and public space.
