Two riverbanks

Bc. Barbora Husáková

Annotation

Calopinace is a river in southern Italy flowing through the center of Reggio, characterized by a seasonal waterflow with alternating periods of drought and intense rainfall that cause flooding. In the 1980s, this issue was addressed by channelizing the river into a concrete canal. The project focuses on revitalizing the suburban section by restoring the natural riverbed while maintaining flood protection. The canal is preserved along one bank as a historical trace, while the opposite bank is natural, organically shaped, and widens the riverbed. These contrasting banks express the dual character of the suburban area, marking the transition between the urban fabric and the surrounding landscape.
